In this episode, Obesity Medicine Specialist and OMA Clinical Education Director Nicholas Pennings, DO, FOMA, FACOFP, and John Jakicic, PhD, discuss the importance of physical activity in weight management and overall health. Dr. John Jakicic is a Research Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine in the Division of Physical Activity and Weight Management at the University of Kansas. Dr. Jakicic presented at the OMA Fall 2022 Obesity Summit in Anaheim, CA. His talk was titled “Weight a Minute: Considerations for Physical Activity Being Effective for Weight Loss and Maintenance”.

Topics discussed include the expectations of the benefits of exercise, the role of physical activity in obesity treatment, pairing dietary recommendations with physical activity plans, and adaptive mechanisms.
